From the banks of the mighty Mississippi River at Montissippi Park, Monticello, MN

I got a chance to use my new ultra lite rod and real yesterday using a 4lb mono line. The wind was blowing, and I had to wait for the ice flows to pass in between casting. I wanted to use a floater on the river, but didn’t find the one I wanted. I ended up using a white/red Lazy Ike. This worked good in the river, nice action, and if you realed in slowly it stayed near the surface. I’ve found that my best fishing on the Mississippi was always on the surface. No fish got brought in during this excursion no strikes and only one follow. But what the heck, it was fun and what more can you say about that.
Sure wish it was closer to summer so that I could do more fishing.
