Networking on the WWW
Posted By Jim Hadfield on March 8, 2009
This is an interesting subject.. I guess the first thing you need to do is determine “if” you want to even go there. Are you prepared to take the time that is required to maintain the “other sites” like Linkedin, Facebook, MySpace, etc.
If you have the time, then why do you want to Network on these sites? Personally, I have little to no time to just goof around and post trivial BS on Facebook or anywhere else. For me, I look at these sites as a means of getting my name out and for people to see what I can do. I haven’t seen any meaningful click’s from Facebook yet, but Linkedin has had clicks from McQuay, Trane and other people of related interests.
How does this benefit me? Hopefully, some of those people might be willing to pay me some $$ for doing what I do best. It’s another form of promoting my abilities. Similar to this post which has tags for many of the areas that I am proficient in.
Will this do anything for “me”? I think it will, otherwise, I wouldn’t be sitting here creating this post on a Sunday morning.
